About
Beth Powell is an award-winning educator, writer and editor who lives in Atlanta, Georgia.
Beth holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Wake Forest University, a master’s degree in English from Penn State University, and a Master of Fine Arts degree in Creative Nonfiction from Goucher College. An excerpt from her MFA thesis, an examination of coerced sexuality, was a finalist for the Christine White Creative Nonfiction Award for literary journalism.
A former reporter, feature writer and columnist, Beth has also designed, developed and taught writing and technical skills courses, both online and in the classroom. She currently teaches English composition at Georgia Perimeter College and is a submissions editor for Memoir (and) literary journal.
Beth’s husband Doug is an attorney, part-time gourmet chef and certified sommelier. Her son Guyton is a landscape designer who lives in Portland, Oregon, and her daughter Cate is on staff at the School for Ethics at Emory University.
